One it's hard to maintain momentum on something like that.

For me it's important to help people see the side effects of ETS surgery. I've had a lot of positive experiences because of the surgery. In the same breathe though it's not what I thought I was signing up for. For some it can be a very poor decision. Doctors won't readily help you explore other options or discuss frankly the side effects.

Knowledge is power. Know your rights. I've for the most part given up gluten for a second time. Overall I find it helps my health. I say "for the most part" because I'm not diligent to ask if all foods have gluten :). I'm also trying to cut back on sugar which apparently is the root of all evil.

It's tiring fighting for your health. I've found being blunt and for lack of a better word a skeptical bitch with doctors works a bit. They come out of their standard speech. You deserve good health. If it would be "compensatory sweating" everybody would have it and it would reflect the severity of the palmar HH before the operation. Because according to the literature about 50-70% have it, (and the procedure is performed only in severe cases, right?!), clearly not everybody ends up with this potentially disabling, life-changing complication.
Some surgeons now refer to it as 'reflex sweating' or reflex hyperhidrosis', which happens to be one complication of spinal cord injury. I woud encourage anyone researching the procedure to contemplate this:

"The amount of compensatory sweating depends on the patient, the damage that the white rami communicans incurs, and the amount of cell body reorganization in the spinal cord after surgery."

"Other potential complications include inadequate resection of the ganglia, gustatory sweating, pneumothorax, cardiac dysfunction, post-operative pain, and finally Horner’s syndrome secondary to resection of the stellate ganglion."
www.ubcmj.com/pdf/ubcmj_2_1_2010_24-29.pdf

I want you to read it slowly: "the amount of cell body reorganization in the spinal cord after surgery"
This is another way of saying: scarring of the spinal cord, that is: spinal cord injury.
You have been warned.
http://ets-lies.blogspot.com.au/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3018778446787963551.post-35320742755769907172013-04-15T22:14:26.475-07:002013-04-15T22:14:26.475-07:00I have horrible sweating, everywhere - head, chest...I have horrible sweating, everywhere - head, chest, back, hands, feet, legs - not my pits, though, weird. There's no way I could afford ETS, and I hear it's not always 100%, and a bothced surgery could really be bad for you. I did find this, though.
"
I had severe hyperhidrosis along with neurological symptoms such as arhhythmia, rapid heart rate, migraines and muscle twitching. I went through all the regular treatments including robinul, klonopin, drysol, and botox without luck.

After fifteen years of going to various specialists, I had the ETS surgery done. It went well but after 2-3 years the hyperhidrosis and Raynaud's syndrome (cold limbs) began to return.

In my case these symptoms were caused by allergies to wheat and dairy (Celiac disease) and mercury toxicity. These lead to depletion of certain amino acids and enzymes, and malabsorption of B vitamins and minerals, especially magnesium.

After eliminating grains and dairy from my diet, the symptoms have gone away. I have been taking supplements as well. Sometime in the future I will be having amalgam fillings replaced, including root canals.

If you search, you will find several sources which mention hyperhidrosis as a symptom of mercury poisoning. This can be related to wheat and dairy allergies (gluten and casein) because mercury inhibits DPP-IV, an enzyme needed to digest these foods.
"
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070821121836AAzUjEc

I couldn't imagine giving up grains or milk, but hey, if it works! Like you said, it's ruining my life. There are days I'd rather not even continue this existence with this problem. I've seen several doctors, asked around, but none of them take it seriously, even though one did say I MIGHT have hyperhidrosis... He gave me some low-dose anxiety medication which didn't help at all. Wish I wasn't in college and living off loans, had my job back, I'd go see a doctor about this surgery or ... something, hell. This shit sucks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3018778446787963551.post-80154775462073955942012-10-03T13:41:14.980-07:002012-10-03T13:41:14.980-07:00I have heard of Miradry and looked in to schedulin...I have heard of Miradry and looked in to scheduling an appointment with a local doctor. Then I realized it may or may not be covered by insurance. I'm a bit overwhelmed with the cost of treating hyperhidrosis. I can't afford another expense at this time. Miradry would certainly come at a cost Very frustrating! It does look promising.

I do not recommend ETS surgery off the bat. If you read the entire post you'll see I deal with a lot of body sweat now that I didn't before. Just the other night I was out to dinner with friends, we were having a drink before dinner waiting for our table and the area we were standing in was a touch too warm. I had to excuse myself to the bathroom because my body was sweating profusely. Luckily the bathroom was a single person bathroom and very cool with air conditioning. I had to take off my top and wipe the sweat down. Take a moment to collect myself to slow the sweating down. If I hadn't done that in no time I would've completely sweat through my clothes and would've been visibly noticeable.

There are oral medications that a dermatologist can prescribe to help with sweaty hands that I would recommend first.

I just ordered some sage pills, natural option. I've heard they can help with sweating and are recommended to women during menopause to help with their sweating. I'll do a post on it to report on how it worked or didn't worked.

Thanks for leaving a comment! Hope this info helps.

-SaraAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00543398039870373678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3018778446787963551.post-18260558240355102072012-10-03T12:01:45.272-07:002012-10-03T12:01:45.272-07:00glad ETS is working for you! have you heard of Mir...glad ETS is working for you! have you heard of Miradry? It is only for arm pits but it seems like something to look into for us "chosen ones" as you don't have to go under and you heal in a few days. I'm thinking about ETS as hand sweating is my main sweat factory on my body other than my feet and pits. what are your thoughts on Miradry?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
